![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Difference Between Trapezoids and Other Geometric Shapes These properties are the foundation of the formulas used in computing areas and volumes. The bases are parallel and congruent, the lateral faces are rectangles, and the lateral edges are parallel to each other. Prisms, as a category of three-dimensional shapes, include several essential properties. If the legs are equal in length, the trapezoid is called an isosceles trapezoid, possessing additional symmetrical properties. The interior angles at the bases are called base angles. Trapezoids have distinct properties, such as one pair of parallel sides, and the other sides (legs) are non-parallel. The alignment and angles of the faces depend on the orientation of the trapezoidal bases, and understanding these properties is vital in mathematics. The properties include having two parallel trapezoidal bases and four lateral rectangular faces. Trapezoidal prisms have some unique features. ![]() Prisms are widely used in various fields, including architecture and engineering. The other faces are rectangles, and these connect the corresponding sides of the bases. Definition of a PrismĪ prism is a three-dimensional shape that has two parallel and congruent faces called bases. Trapezoids are fundamental building blocks in geometry and play an essential role in designing structures and creating various art forms. It has exactly one pair of parallel sides, which are referred to as the bases. 4/30/2024 0 Comments Non formal education advantages![]() ![]() ![]() In this article, we examine learning in non-formal education as a way of contributing to an understanding of lifelong, lifewide education and how it may be useful for those youth who participate. Footnote 1 Policies from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the European Union (EU), as well as the work of researchers, have all demonstrated that interest in this field continues around the world (UNESCO 2015 EC 2014 Harring et al. The interest in specific forms of learning, such as formal, non-formal and informal, began with the 1960s “world educational crisis” (Coombs 1968 Rogers 2004). The programme is one example of various societal developments in Europe which emphasise the relevance of a lifelong and lifewide education for learners who are increasingly mobile, and which encompass formal, non-formal and informal learning spaces and a move towards flexible lifelong learning systems (UNESCO 2015). This is a non-formal education programme for youth aged between 17 and 30 who seek learning opportunities outside the established formal school system. Young people in Europe who want to travel to another country to gain work experience, develop foreign language skills, and take part in voluntary work to contribute to society, can participate in the European Voluntary Service (EVS). This development is not in the best interests of learners, especially when seeking useful learning and education for youth (what the authors term “youthful” for youth in action). As a consequence, the division of formal and non-formal (and possibly even informal) learning creates a gap which works against the development of flexible and interconnected education with ubiquitous learning and mobility within and across formal and non-formal education. The findings also revealed that it is complicated to divide learning into formal and non- formal categories instead, non-formal education is useful for individual learners when both formal and non-formal educational contexts are integrated. ![]() The findings and analysis offer several interpretations of learning, and the recognition of learning, which take place in non-formal education. The study also examined the Youthpass documentation tool as a key to understanding the recognition of learning and to determine whether the learning was useful for learners (the volunteers). The research questions concerned learning, the recognition of learning and perspectives of usefulness. Data were collected during individual and focus group interviews with learners (the EVS volunteers), decision takers and trainers, with the aim of deriving an understanding of learning in non-formal education. It takes a qualitative approach and is based on a case study of the European Voluntary Service (EVS). This article offers insights into the practices of a non-formal education programme for youth provided by the European Union (EU). ![]() 4/30/2024 0 Comments Starfall calendar june 2016![]() ![]() ![]() STARFALL*LT | British Shorthair cats and kittens. 4/29/2024 0 Comments Mac mojave theme for windows 10![]() ![]() ![]() But dark themes have long been popular in software that caters to content-generation professionals, who prefer to have their images or video not be swamped by a lot of bright interface chrome. Why go dark? For some people the answer will be novelty, or the sheer coolness that comes from going from an Imperial Stormtrooper color scheme to one befitting Darth Vader. Dark windows aren’t just light windows inverted. Mojave finally makes good on the promise of a true dark theme for macOS, one that can (optionally) change your Mac’s windows to be predominantly dark with light text, rather than light with dark text. In 2014’s Yosemite release, Apple added the ability to turn the Mac’s menu bar black, a perplexingly limited design flourish that didn’t extend beyond the menu bar and Dock. And perhaps most importantly, after several months using prerelease versions of Mojave, I’m happy to report that it also has been a stable, drama-free update. But the present’s been given a new coat of paint and some useful new features. This is a release that has a lot to say about the future of the Mac. Yes, macOS Mojave is probably destined to be known as the beginning of a journey, rather than a milestone. Even Automator, part of a macOS user automation story that was seemingly abandoned, has gotten a few new features that make it more accessible to users. The Finder, the app that’s the hub of the Mac experience, has gotten several new organizational upgrades. On that front, Mojave delivers an entirely new desktop theme-Dark Mode-along with the first official changes to the macOS/OS X color scheme in years. While that’s all going on under the surface-and make no mistake, there’s a lot going on in macOS Mojave that’s largely invisible but incredibly important to the future-it’s up to Apple to add visible, fun new features to its annual operating-system update to help motivate everyone to update. Next year, when third-party app developers will get to bring their own iOS apps to the Mac, we may all get a cookie. But the truth is, we don’t get to eat that marshmallow this year. Apple seems to have embarked on a years-long effort to update the Mac into a computing platform that makes more sense in the era of touchscreen devices, and in macOS Mojave we see the first glimmers of that effort. It’s easier to eat the marshmallow now rather than wait for the cookie later.Īnd yet sometimes patience is required. We’re taught that good things come to those who wait, but delaying gratification is no fun. Note: This story has not been updated for several years. The general form of a quadratic equation is. We have two factors when multiplied together gets 0. Solving Quadratic Equations by Factoring. ![]() We find that the two terms have x in common. We can factorize quadratic equations by looking for values that are common. If the coefficient of x 2 is greater than 1 then you may want to consider using the Quadratic formula. They are used in countless ways in the fields of engineering, architecture, finance, biological science, and, of course, mathematics. For example, equations such as (2x2 +3x10) and (x24 0) are quadratic equations. This is still manageable if the coefficient of x 2 is 1. An equation containing a second-degree polynomial is called a quadratic equation. In other cases, you will have to try out different possibilities to get the right factors for quadratic equations. In some cases, recognizing some common patterns in the equation will help you to factorize the quadratic equation.įor example, the quadratic equation could be a Perfect Square Trinomial (Square of a Sum or Square of a Difference) or Difference of Two Squares. Sometimes, the first step is to factor out the greatest common factor before applying other factoring techniques. The simplest way to factoring quadratic equations would be to find common factors. Solving Quadratic Equations using the Quadratic Formula So, he finds two numbers that: 1) Multiply to -10 (the last term) 2) Add to -3 (the middle term) The -10, tells us that one number must be positive and the other negative to get a negative number after multiplying (from basic rules for multiplying signed numbers). Johnson, by the way, died in 2014 at age 89.Dawn Wells, the girl-next-door actress and former beauty queen who played the sweet Mary Ann Summers on the iconic CBS sitcom Gilligan’s Island, died Wednesday morning. I was sorry to read that things were difficult for her a couple of years ago - her Wiki page says that a GoFundMe page was set up to help Wells cope with financial challenges. Wells certainly had her moment in the sun. The castaways might have just as well been residing in a condo community alongside a golfing fairway in Scottsdale. Nothing about living on a remote island (and one without toilets or hot running water, remember) altered how they thought and lived. Gilligan‘s chord had something to do with capturing the insular mindset and complacency among the American middle-class in the mid ’60s. What was the basic metaphor of Gilligan’s Island? TV sitcoms become hits because they touch a chord of some kind. Speaking of beaches, why weren’t there more scenes in which Maryann and Tina Louise‘s “Ginger Grant” would lounge around in brightly-colored floral print bikinis and soak up rays? (Now I’m really gonna be re-cancelled.) Why didn’t Gilligan learn to surf? Or the skipper for that matter? Did everyone have their own outhouse or did they share? How did they arrange for running water again? The show wasn’t even interested in any kind of hand-made Swiss Family Robinson ingenuity. How did the Gilligan characters happen to bring along such huge wardrobes (or even a suitcase) when they were only enjoying a three-hour cruise off the coast of Oahu? Why didn’t the professor build a surfboard for Maryann? Why didn’t Maryann and Russell Johnson‘s professor become a couple? They could’ve had kids. Credit is due, I suppose, to Schwartz for inventing and selling the idiotic concept, but the writing on the Gillis series (’59 to ’63) was 20 times better than the plotting and patter on Gilligan. The difference in the quality between the insipid Gilligan’s Island and Bob Denver‘s previous series, The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis, was night and day. ![]() (Will I get re-cancelled for using that insidious term? Would it help if it was meant ironically or historically, as a verbal comment on a remnant of a bygone age when “fox” was an acceptable term of flattery?)īorn and raised in Nevada, Wells was 25 or 26 when that Sherwood Schwartz series began in ’64 (the first season was shot in black-and-white), and 29 when the show breathed its last. Okay, I may have watched five or six.Įveryone loved Maryann - the perfect tropical island fox. ![]() ![]() Wells was very fortunate, of course, in being cast in Sherwood Schwarz‘s oppressively stupid, inexplicably popular sitcom, which except for two or three episodes I’ve avoided all my life.
